Teaching

Natalie’s Teaching Philosophy

I believe that teaching is not just about transmitting knowledge but about nurturing the whole person. At the heart of my teaching is compassion; a deep commitment to seeing each student as a unique individual with their own strengths, struggles, and potential.

As an activist for albinism and an advocate for minority rights, my teaching style is built on trust, respect, and empathy. I strive to create a learning environment where students feel safe to express themselves, make mistakes, and grow. This means listening actively, responding with kindness, and recognizing that students’ lives extend beyond the classroom.

Compassionate teaching also means teaching with purpose: helping students connect what they learn to their lived experiences and to the broader world. As a teacher who has toured internationally to teach students with albinism learn to embrace and accept themselves, I have had the profound joy of watching them blossom into the skin they inhabit. This lies at the core of my teaching philosophy: that when we educate not just minds, but also uplift spirits and imbue compassion into hearts, learning has no other option but to thrive.
